How Do I Find Articles?

The research tools used to find articles are different than the tools used for finding books. To find articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers, you will need to use at least one of the databases available at the Cypress College Library.

A general research database covering a wide variety of topics is EBSCOhost, or you can choose a database that is geared towards your particular subject. For help in selecting the best database, check with a reference librarian or click here for a list of databases by subject.

Some databases give you citations to articles while others include the entire article online. EBSCOhost is customized to let you know whether or not the Cypress College Library carries the subscription in print and/or in electronic format.

The best source for current newspaper articles is from our ProQuest full-text databases for the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Christian Science Monitor, the New York Daily Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. Click here to access the ProQuest databases.

If you are having difficulty finding articles on your topic or are only finding citations to articles the Cypress College Library does not own, please ask the reference librarian for assistance. The reference librarian can assist you with finding additional resources or locating those articles at other libraries.
