About Professor Sonne
Cypress College is a wonderful community to begin your academic journey. I love being on a campus filled with energy and intellectual excitement
I get to wear many hats at Cypress College. My favorite one is directing the Cypress College Honors Program. I have the great honor of associating with the finest students at Cypress College. It gives me tremendous satisfaction to watch the Honors students develop their academic and leadership skills as they prepare to transfer to high caliber universities and become better citizens.
My second hat is directing the Cypress College Service Learning Program. All of the Honors students participate in Service Learning as a program requirement. They volunteer in the community applying program and course objectives during their experience. This opportunity is also available to any student on campus that chooses a course that incorporates the pedagogy of Service Learning. Teaching and applying citizenship skills to our campus and community is very fulfilling for all who choose to participate.
Lastly, I am a professor of English. Which means that I get paid to teach students to critically think, read, and write about the literature and film that I love! I regularly lead semester Study Abroad programs – where the literature literally comes to life.
COUN 160 HC Honors University Transition
This counseling course is critical for students preparing to transfer. Taking the course early will help you save time and transfer more efficiently.
COUN 135 HC Honors Leadership
This is a fabulous course for personal leadership development. It is now UC transferable. Remember that it is only offered Spring semester.
